The Center for Biophysics and Computational Biology (BIOP) offers a CSE Option under its Ph.D. degree program. Students electing the CSE Option are expected to satisfy all regular requirements for graduate study in BIOP. A student will normally be able to satisfy the requirements for the CSE Option by taking elective courses within the BIOP graduate program.
For the Ph.D. in BIOP with the CSE Option, the following additional requirements must be satisfied: the student must take two CSE core courses, and two additional CSE courses or approved computational courses in BIOP. These courses can be counted toward the two 500-level courses requirement in BIOP, where appropriate. The Ph.D. thesis must be related to computational science as well as to biophysics, and the thesis committee must include at least one CSE-affiliated faculty member.
