TITLE: Higher-Order Spatial Discretization in the Unstructured
Fluid Solver Rocflu
ABSTRACT
The inherent topological and geometrical irregularity of unstructured
grids makes the construction of robust higher-order accurate spatial
discretizations very challenging. In the context of cell-centred
finite-volume schemes, higher-order accuracy requires the construction
of cell gradients, and the computation of viscous flows requires face
gradients. The presentation will describe the new gradient
reconstruction algorithm developed for the unstructured fluid solver
Rocflu. The distinguishing feature of the new algorithm is an
adapative stencil construction that attempts to ensure that gradients
are computed in a robust and accurate fashion. The resulting
higher-order scheme is tested by careful grid-refinement studies for
two flows with exact solutions.
